François Baccelli is a specialist of communication network modeling and design and is the author of several books and of a large number of research papers on these questions.

His current research work is focused on the analysis, control and measurement of large IP networks and on the development of new mathematical tools for assessing and exploiting the capacity of future wireless networks.

He held research positions at INRIA Rocquencourt, in the Maths Center of AT&T Bell Laboratories, INRIA Sophia Antipolis and UC Berkeley. He is currently head of an INRIA research group on communication networks, which is part of the Computer Science Department of Ecole Normale Supérieure in Paris.

F. Baccelli is a member of the French Academy of Sciences.
