Katalin Marton Has Passed Away
Katalin Marton was a giant of our field. She also made remarkable contributions to measure concentration with applications to probability theory and ergodic theory. She received the Shannon Award and was the only woman to do so.

Jørn Justesen Has Passed Away
Jørn Justesen, a well-known expert in coding theory, communications, and data compression, passed away on October 27, 2019 in Washington, DC, USA at the age of 75. His notable results include the construction of low-complexity, asymptotically good error-correcting codes (1972), a discovery of fast decoding algorithms for Reed-Solomon and algebraic-geometric codes, as well as research into construction and properties of convolutional codes.
