Postdoctoral Scholar, California Institute of Technology

Seeking one postdoctoral scholar for work at the boundary of information theory and theoretical biology.  Desired expertise includes information theory, random processes, linear algebra, stochastic convergence, optimization, and the tools used in finite blocklength analyses.  While background in biology is not required, demonstrated prior interest in the field, where available, should be highlighted in the candidate's materials.

Interested candidates should be nominated by their current doctoral or postdoctral advisor.   Nominations, including a brief statement of support from the advisor and the candidate's CV and earliest possible start date, should be sent directly to effros at caltech edu.  Three letters of recommendation will be requested at a later date.  The position is intended to start very quickly;  candidates who are not available for near-term start dates will not be considered.
