Research Fellow / Scientific Systems Analyst
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)
Tasks: design and implementation of IT services for a data centre concept considering aspects such as high availability and site redundancy, data security, energy efficiency, multi-tenant capability and scalability; project and resource management as well as planning of hardware resources; planning, development, and optimization of IT services by means of IT service management methods; close cooperation with internal and external specialists and with users; planning, acquisition, and coordination of research and cooperation projects.
Requirements: university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or any related Natural Science; a PhD degree is desired; excellent knowledge of system architectures including high availability solutions; experience with UNIX/Linux based operating systems; very good command of German and English (written and spoken); high self-motivation, commitment, and flexibility as well as the ability to work in and contribute to a dynamic team of scientists; advanced knowledge of IT service management pursuant to ITIL, proven by an ITIL Foundation Certificate is beneficial.

Tasks: research, planning, and development of the conception of the communication infrastructure of TU Dresden; management concept for delivering services through the data communication network of TU Dresden; application and methodology research in the field of communications networks; modelling and implementation of central IT systems and applications; planning, selection, system support and optimization of hard- and software components; planning, acquisition and coordination of research and cooperation projects.
Requirements: university and PhD degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or any related Natural Science; profound knowledge of network technology and related services; experience with UNIX/Linux based operating systems; programming skills in C/C++ as well as with scripting languages (e. g. Python); very good command of German and English (written and spoken); high self-motivation, commitment, and flexibility as well as team player qualities; advanced knowledge of IT service management according to ITIL, proven by an ITIL Foundation Certificate is beneficial.
We are offering a great work environment within an international team. ZIH is a Central Academic Unit of TU Dresden with accompanying research activities in the full spectrum of its duties. It is especially responsible for the complete communication infrastructure of the university and operates the central servers, HPC systems, as well as all central IT services.
