Information for Student Presenters

Student Talks

If you are student attendee of the First Annual School of Information Theory and are scheduled to present in an oral session, please read the instructions here.

  • Each talk is 10 minutes long including a quick introduction and questions. Aim for an 8 minute talk, which should be enough time for you to present the essence of the problem you are working on and intrigue your colleagues.
  • The schedule is tight, so please be sure you leave the podium after 10 minutes.
  • The classroom is equipped with a computer and we will not have time to switch computers, so please bring your presentation along on a stick and make sure it is uploaded before your session starts.
  • You can upload your presentation during one of the breaks prior to your session. There will be volunteers to help you upload your presentation.

Student Posters

If you are student attendee of the First Annual School of Information Theory and are scheduled to present in a poster session, please read the instructions here.

  • Poster sessions will be held on the first floor, in the lobby of the Electrical Engineering West building.
  • The poster sessions are of 90 minutes duration each.
  • Poster boards, easels and pins will be provided.
  • The poster boards are of size 36X48 inches.
  • You may bring a one piece poster or printed slides. Either way, you will be responsible for setting up your poster prior to the start of the session.
  • It is generally a good idea to visit the other posters in your session, but try to keep an eye on your poster in case an interested party comes by. You may also wish to give mini-talks if several people accumulate by your poster.
