SECOND ANNUAL NORTH AMERICAN SCHOOL OF INFORMATION THEORY
The Second Annual North American School of Information Theory will be held Monday, August 10, to Thursday, August 13, 2009, at Northwestern University, IL. The school will build on the successes of last year’s school to provide graduate students and postdoctoral researchers the opportunity to learn from leading experts in information theory through short courses and talks as well as the chance to present their own work.
This year's lecturers are Dan Costello, Abbas El Gamal, Robert Gallager, and Bruce Hajek. We are pleased to announce that Abbas El Gamal will be the first Padovani Lecturer at the 2009 School of Information Theory . The Padovani Lecture is sponsored by a generous gift of Roberto Padovani to the IEEE Information Theory Society.
Graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in North America working on problems of information theory in a broad sense are encouraged to apply
